CHESS WE CAN!
During the year of H1N1, we had it. We were all very sick. Our family has lots of stories to share about this “family bonding moment”. One such story is the introduction to and the impressive appetite for chess that developed over the course of a week. Our kids became so good at playing that our then 10 year old daughter challenged and beat a pretty smart teenager in our neighborhood. Chess is a classic and one of our favorites. For a long time, there used to be a permanent place for the chess board in our living area. While writing this, I talked myself into finding our old chess board and putting it out again. Surprisingly, we still have all the pieces. Some are well worn and some have battle scars from a puppy that was going through a rough chewing phase. I had a thought about replacing it, but this one has so many great memories. Maybe one day we will get a newer one or DIY it with a fun salt and pepper shaker version I saw at the local inn. I also had aspirations for getting a giant lawn size version to play outside. For now, we will enjoy this set.
Chess! These are “pieces” of great family memories.
